Job description

The Speech and Language Therapy team at Maxxima are currently recruiting for a Band 6/7 Speech and Language Therapist to autonomously cover an adult community caseload. The purpose of this post is to provide a specialist level of expertise in the assessment and management of patients who have communication and/or swallowing disorders referred to the community SLT service for East Suffolk. The post holder will be based in the community, working in people’s own homes, care homes, community hospitals, as well as the clinic base. The service supports people with the full range of acquired conditions including stroke, progressive neurological disorders, functional disorders, dementia. The team also supports the provision to the local neuro-rehabilitation unit and the stroke ESD service. Participation in the triage rota for community referrals will be required. Some in-reach work to the acute inpatient service may be required.

Banding: 6/7
Location: Essex/Suffolk
Hours: Flexible - Part Time and Full Time Hours Available 
Duration: 3-6 months (with potential for an extension).
Essential skills:


  • HCPC registered
  • Relevant Speech and Language Therapy qualification
  • Preference to be dysphagia trained
