Job description

Maxxima are looking for a part time Band 6 Occupational therapist to join a team in West London.

This post is for 22.5 hours a week.

Job Summary:


  • To provide a high quality, efficient Occupational Therapy service to patients with a wide range of physical and medical conditions referred to the in-patient admission avoidance/general medical rehabilitation unit at Clayponds Hospital.
  • With senior support, to provide clinical expertise in the prioritisation and treatment of patients within the scope of the conditions referred to the integrated care service.  To ensure that service provision supports the objectives of Ealing Community Partners and meets expectations regarding national guidelines
  • Primarily to work on Prevention of Admission/General rehab ward but in a variety of community locations as necessary.
  • The post holder will ensure the service provision supports the objectives of the Trust.
 

Key Result Areas & Performance:

  • To work within the clinical team, managing your own caseload including assessment, implementing and evaluating treatment and applying specialist skills to support patients presenting with varied and complex conditions.
  • To initiate and carry out audits, to plan and implement changes as appropriate, and to understand the role of audit within clinical governance.
  • To train and supervise junior staff in the team and support students on placement
Professional responsibilities:

  • To be professionally and legally responsible for all aspects of own work, including the management of patients in your care.
  • To work within Trust, Health and Care Professions Council and Royal College of OT Standards of Practice. To adhere at all times to professional standards which reflect credit on the profession and encourage others to do likewise.
  • To have a working knowledge of the key relevant Trust Policies and Procedures e.g. Information Governance, Infection Control, consent etc. and to know how to access other Trust policies and procedures as required.
  • To attend relevant courses, seminars and workshops in order to maintain a current professional knowledge base.  To maintain a CPD portfolio including keeping up to date by reading and reflective practice. 
  • To co-ordinate and liaise with other healthcare professionals in the team, and with external agencies, healthcare practitioners, GPs and consultants to ensure a seamless and co-ordinated provision of care.  Providing advice and education within this forum, acting as an expert in your own professional field.
