Job description

Maxxima is currently seeking an experienced Band 7 Biomedical Scientist in Haematology to fill a full-time role in Essex.

The starting pay rate for this locum Biomedical Scientist job is £26.00 to £29.00 per hour and is an ongoing role.

Requirements of the BMS role:

*Supports the senior team and Managers and is able to supervise the other BMS staff, Associate Practitioners and MLAs.
*To work within the Haematology team to ensure that all specimens are processed in a timely, appropriate manner paying particular attention to detail and quality.
*Maintenance, development and review of SOPs
*Able to follow SOPs
*Maintenance and cleaning of equipment used in the department.
*Will lead an area of the lab and be responsible for all documentation and techniques in that area.
*Assist in maintaining appropriate internal and external quality assurance to recognise poor performance and act accordingly.
*Assists with the receipt of goods and maintenance of consumable stocks
*Is aware of the cost of resources and to work as economically as practical in achieving objectives
*Suggests ways to improve working practices
*Performs any other duties, commensurate with the post and in the interest of the service
*Supervise and organise the workflow through all sections of the lab making the best possible use of available resources.
*To train and supervise junior staff.
*Liaise with consultants within and outside the department to identify and implement new techniques.
*To assist in the provision of the Haematology service in a timely, accurate and efficient manner.
*Sort and process pathological specimens received in the laboratory.
*Interpret and report results via the hospital computer system

All applicants must have relevant experience of working within an NHS or Private Pathology Laboratory. Candidates must have their HCPC registration as well as a Valid Working Holiday Visa, Ancestry Visa or EU Citizenship.
