Maxxima is looking to appoint a full-time Band 7 Clinical Psychologist to join the Learning Disabilities Psychology service based in South Essex on a 6-month Fixed Term Contract to support with assessments and short term intervention. The starting pay rate is £27 per hour.

The South Essex area is geographically close to London with good transport links to the East Anglia region, it has a more affordable standard of living than London itself, making it an attractive place to live and work.

We welcome applications from highly motivated and resourceful individuals who are keen to work as part of a team and would welcome an opportunity to develop their assessment and brief intervention skills with this clinical group. The appointed Psychologist will be joining a well-established multi-disciplinary service. The team consists of clinical psychologists, behaviour therapists, community nurses, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, and psychiatrists. The service is part of a new partnership with local Trusts and providers to form an Essex wide Learning Disability Service in which psychology is highly valued. Strong engagement skills and the ability to work creatively in relation to challenging behaviour and complex multi-agency networks are essential. Clinical supervision will be provided by a Senior Clinical Psychologist.

Qualifications and Experience required:

Doctoral level training in clinical/counselling psychology (or equivalent), including specifically, models of psychopathology and clinical psychometrics, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology as accredited by the BPS. Experience of working with a wide variety of client groups with presenting problems that reflect the full range of clinical severity.

Requirements of the Clinical Psychology vacancy:

All applicants must have a relevant qualification in Clinical Psychology - for example, a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology - and preferably some post-qualification experience within the NHS or private sector. The roles and responsibilities of this placement will include:

*Provide psychological assessments of patients referred to the service using the interpretation and integration of complex data from a variety of sources
*Formulate and implement psychological treatment plans for individuals and provide support for families and carers
*Ensure high professional standards are met and provide risk assessments for individual patients
*Liaise with other healthcare professionals involved with the psychological treatment of patients
*Attend clinical supervision in order to develop skills and experience
