Job description

Maxxima is currently searching for a Senior Band 7 Occupational Therapist across a range of specialist areas including oncology and intensive care, within a private london hospital.


We are looking for a Band 7, Lead Occupational Therapist for a 9 month fixed term contract.
 
The salary range is £47,341 - £48,774 pro rata.
 
This role is 37.5 hours a week Monday – Friday.
 
We are looking for someone with a minimum of 4 years post registration experience (2 years as a minimum at Band 6 level or equivalent) and clinical experience in oncology/ palliative care.

Job Summary:
 
  • To provide a high quality expert Occupational Therapy service across a range of specialist areas including oncology and intensive care.
  • To be operationally responsible for Band 6 Occupational Therapists providing leadership, supervision and performance management as required.
  • To work alongside the members of the multi-disciplinary team (MDT) so as to implement care plans for patients with complex needs using evidence based/client centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions.
  • To work autonomously and without direct supervision
 
Key Result Areas & Performance:
 
Clinical
  • To assess and treat a complex caseload in both inpatients and outpatients, prioritising efficiently to reduce risk and manage patient’s rehabilitation and independence.
  • To apply a high level of knowledge and understanding of the clinical developments within Occupational Therapy.
  • To undertake individual initial assessments of referred patients, identify care needs and set patient centred treatment plans.
  • To assess and treat the patient’s functional activity level and maximise their independence and choice through a range of rehabilitative techniques.
  • To select and conduct standardised cognitive assessment screening to identify areas affecting functional ability and indicate need for further assessment/ treatment.
  • To carry out moving and handling assessments and demonstrate to families and patients the safe use of equipment including hoists and home equipment and adaptations.
  • To carry out specialist seating and wheelchair assessments, and guide junior staff in complex cases as required.
  • Explore anxiety and depression and its impact on a patient’s daily living activities and together with the wider MDT implement relevant anxiety and lifestyle management programmes.
  • To assess environmental risks and carry out home assessments as required.
  • To prescribe equipment as required and guide other team members on effective solutions to assist a patient in maintaining independence and dignity.
