Paying £50,000 per annum
The shifts are 4 days on and 4 off and they do 8 till 8
They do a month of days and then a month of nights
26 days hols pro rata
18% pension cont (FTCs) and food on site
Requirements of this BMS vacancy:
This role will provide the laboratory with a Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) registered and experienced biomedical scientist (BMS). They will be responsible for ensuring that all laboratory quality assurance protocols are being followed and will contribute to the gathering of performance data for presentation at regular data quality meetings. In addition, they will be responsible for the interpretation and authorisation of results as required. They will also assist the senior BMS, laboratory shift manager, and other laboratory personnel, to carry out troubleshooting of the assays should issues arise. Shifts 8 till 8, 4 on and 4 off – month of days and month of nights
The duties outlined below are an outline of the tasks, responsibilities and outcomes required of the role. There may also be the requirement to perform other duties as may reasonably be required.

- Authorise patient results and quality assurance schemes.
- Undertake ABI7500 analyser maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Supervise other technical laboratory staff in the PCR analysis area.
- Have responsibility for their own training, development and competencies.
- Create and review technical documents and SOPs using the laboratory QMS.
- Assist laboratory management in ensuring compliance with organisational quality standards and H&S requirements are maintained.
- Pursue a programme of continuous professional development in accordance with any relevant professional registration.
Qualifications/ Background
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA
- BSc Honours degree, recognised by the Institute for Biomedical Science (IBMS)
- HCPC registration
- Minimum 1 year experience of working in a diagnostic laboratory, including authorising a variety of different results.
- Familiarity with laboratory quality management and information management systems.
- Ability to compile and summarise data for presentation.
- Familiarity with laboratory accreditation requirements (ISO 15189).
- Experience of maintaining documents and procedures within laboratory accreditation specifications (including COSHH, SOPs and training /competency).
- Knowledge of Health and Safety regulations and procedures.
- Experience of shift/on-call/out of hours working and willingness to participate in shift working as required.
- Excellent communication and team-working skills
- Excellent attention to detail.
DESIRABLE CRITERIA:
- Experience of using liquid handling robots (e.g. TECAN liquid handling systems)
- Experience of training in a laboratory setting
