Job description

Maxxima’s permanent team are recruiting for a Band 6 Physiotherapist, based North of Birmingham. This is an exciting opportunity to join one of the UK’s largest NHS Community Trusts, working in neurodevelopmental and stroke care.

The successful candidate will provide high standards of advanced physiotherapy input and high quality of care to neurodevelopment and stroke patients across Walsall facilitating multi-agency service delivery to include comprehensive assessment and specialist interventions. You will manage a caseload of patients with varied and sometimes complex needs undertaking appropriate assessment, intervention and evaluation through programmes of care and support to meet identified needs and work in a variety of setting most appropriate to the patient's needs inclusive of the acute ward. You will communicate effectively with a range of people to include users of services and their families, Local Authority, other NHS services and the private and voluntary sector partners. You will work closely the Physiotherapy team, getting patients back to their pre-stroke ability, working with cognitive techniques, with mainly over 65 year olds.

Hours: 37.5 per week

On a typical day you will:

  • Undertake all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner, including professional and legal accountability and managing clinical risk for all aspects of own work (some aspects of work will involve delivery of the care as an individual practitioner or as part of the multi- agency)
  • Formulate and deliver an individualised physiotherapy treatment programme, including postural management, therapeutic handling, patient/carer education, provision of exercise/physical management programmes, hydrotherapy and other alternative options
  • Work collaboratively with other disciplines and agencies across Health, Social Care and Education to ensure that services for individual families are co-ordinated, seamless, timely and robust
  • Actively participate and engage in iPDR systems and in professional and personal development including in-service training, Clinical supervision, journal club and peer support maintain professional standards and ensuring best practice
  • Attend relevant training and development in order to maintain and develop skills and knowledge required of specialist paediatric physiotherapist thereby maintaining up to date HPC registration e.g. relevant courses, meetings, special interest groups, reading
Skills & Experience:
  • BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy
  • HCPC registered
  • Evidence of CPD
  • Experience in Stroke and Neurology 
  • Experience in the NHS
  • Experience in a multidisciplinary team (MDT)
