Maxxima’s permanent team are recruiting for a Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist, based in London, Ealing.
The Highly Specialist Speech & Language Therapist will provide specialist services to inpatient forensic services. You will be responsible for taking a lead role in the planning and delivery of a high quality, highly specialist Speech and language Therapy service in order to facilitate optimum communication skills and provide excellent dysphagia care within this client group
Salary: NHS Band 7 Equivalent
Location: London, Ealing
Employment Type: Permanent, Full time
Hours: 37.5 per week

Everyday you will…
- Work closely and provide advice to the Service users/Patients, carers, ward staff, ward managers, occupational therapists, psychologists, medical staff, other Allied Health Professionals, modern matrons, service managers, service directors and the Associate Director for Allied Health Professions.
- Provide clinical leadership, day to day supervision, clinical advice and clinical supervision to juniors and students as appropriate.
- Autonomously manage a dysphagia and communication caseload of service users within inpatient services, carrying out assessments and interventions and giving advice regarding the daily management of service users to the Multidisciplinary team (MDT).
- Manage a complex caseload in liaison with the Head OT advising managers and clinical leads of shortfalls /difficulties as they arise, identifying initiatives/plans to manage these shortfalls/ difficulties whilst contributing to future service developments.
- Demonstrate a high level of clinical effectiveness by use of evidence based practice, SLT plans and outcome measures, which involve monitoring and reviewing the patient’s progress against the SLT plan and outcomes set.
- Develop and deliver communication training to staff in a variety of community locations as required.
- Keep up to date with new developments in the field, critically evaluating available research and developing and implementing evidence-based practices on an on-going basis.
Experience working independently in acute and chronic dysphagia.
