Respiratory Physiologist – Permanent – West London

Maxxima’s permanent team are recruiting for a Respiratory Physiologist Band 5 or Band 6 on a permanent basis to work for a private hospital within the respiratory team in the clinical trials department.

As respiratory physiologist you will be expected to perform and report on a comprehensive range of pulmonary function tests on a wide variety of research patients. You will be expected to carry out all other non-specialist clinical and non-clinical duties within the department as required.

Location: West London

Employment Type: Permanent, 40 hours per week
Hours: 8am-5pm Monday-Friday with the occassional evening & weekend

Salary: £27’000-£40’000 equivalent to NHS Band 5 / 6 scale (dependent on band & experience) + Benefits                                   

On a typical day you will:
  • Deliver a consistently high standard of patient care utilising evidence based practice
  • Provide professional and accurate physiological measurements within a Clinical Trials environment
  • Participate in quality control / assurance schemes with the department, including equipment calibration, infection control, record findings and act to resolve problems
  • Perform, analyse and report upon a range of pulmonary function tests including but not limited to Spirometry, Gas Transfer and Static Lung Volume assessments in accordance with ARTP/BTS national guidelines and research protocols
  • Perform, analyse and report upon advanced pulmonary function tests including but not limited to Challenge Testing, Cardio – Pulmonary Exercise Tests and overnight Sleep Studies, in accordance with national guidelines and research protocols
  • Ensure procedures are carried out in accordance with relevant policies and procedures.
  • By analysing and interpreting clinical and technical data, the post holder will provide factual reports for specialist studies
  • Maintain clear, concise and accurate records
What will you need to succeed in this role?
  • BSc (Hons) in Clinical Physiology (Respiratory) or equivalent
  • ARTP Part 1 and Part 2
  • Proficient as an independent in standard pulmonary function test techniques
  • Advanced Respiratory Physiology courses – desirable
  • Registration with RCCP – desirable
  • Experience of Clinical Trial regulations – desirable
