Maxxima’s permanent team are recruiting for a Senior Theatre Practitioner based in Kent. This is an exciting opportunity to join a private hospital rated as Outstanding by the CQC.
As a Senior Theatre Practitioner, you will take responsibility for planning and implementing high standards of perioperative care for patients.

On a typical day you will:
  • Follow hospital guidelines and protocols as you promote best evidence-based practice, always acting as the patient’s advocate. 
  • Ensure the safe custody of medication and controlled drug and that patient care areas are safe, fit for purpose and effectively maintained. 
  • Undertake mandatory surgical checks prior to the start of the procedure, during and pre-wound closure.   
  • Plan and take the lead to facilitate the running of theatre lists and provide management accountability in the absence of a clinical lead under the supervision of Theatre Manager.
  • In addition to clinical duties, the direct supervision and training of junior staff will be your responsibility in order to ensure the provision of a high quality and cost-effective service to our patients.
  • Accurately enter patient information and contribute to audits within the theatre and the compilation of written documentation.

What will you need to succeed in this role?
  • First level Registered Nurse/ HCPC registered ODP  (SFA qualification would be ideal but not essential)
  • Post registration education/experience in a relevant specialty, Degree in Healthcare or 5+ years equivalent experience
  • Expert Scrub Nurse with post qualification experience in a range of surgical specialties
  • Ability to organise, plan and problem solve on a case by case basis
  • Strong communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills to build and support team working
  • Strong patient-approach
  • Basic computer skills e.g., MS Outlook and web-based reporting system
