What is the average salary of a dietitian?
It is tricky to give an ‘average salary’ for a dietetic role as a dietitian’s salary will differ based on the specific bands and their experience level – however, this salary is usually between £21,600 to £28,100.
For more experienced dietitians, the salary can rise to £34,800, and up to £41,000 if you specialise in a particular area. The full salary bands for a dietitian are:
-
Band 5 £17 - £21+

Working as a locum dietitian
The importance of dietetic healthcare professionals means that there’s always high demand for locum dietitians within the healthcare system. Whether you choose to be a nutrition and dietetic specialist in the private sector or in the NHS, as a locum dietitian, you have access to certain benefits that you wouldn’t have in a full-time role. Locum roles are ideal for those looking for a flexible lifestyle. Working as a temporary healthcare professional allows you to control your own hours – you can choose when you work and how long for.
