Maxxima’s permanent team are recruiting for a Healthcare Assistant - Cardio Thoracic and Digestive Disease based in London. This is an exciting opportunity to join one of the UK’s private leading comprehensive clinics in the heart of London.

The Acute Care Ward involves Interventional Cardiology, Cardiothoracic surgery with some vascular as well as cardiac/medical conditions, also digestive diseases including liver and robotics and other specialties that require continuous monitoring and treatment. The Healthcare Assistant will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to provide a safe, effective, efficient care for patients and relatives, while delivering key performance targets.

On a typical day you will:

• Provide basic nursing care to patients under the direction and supervision of trained nursing caregivers.
• Maintain high standards of care.
• Develop competence in carrying out tasks such as taking and recording basic observations, assist patient with hygiene, nutritional requirements working in a manner that promotes privacy and dignity.
• Notify nursing caregivers of changes/concerns in patients’ condition.
• Recognise own limitations and request assistance as necessary.
• Escort patients as required to and from various departments.
• Conversant with computer systems (Windows), ensuring all patient charges are captured.
• Be aware of Universal Precautions, basic Infection Control Procedures and Sharps Safety
• Ensure the conveyance of blood and specimens to the correct location as efficiently as possible to
ensure effective patient care giving due regard to the handling of such substances which may be
of a bio-hazardous nature.
• Participates effectively at the Quality improvements initiatives for the ward ensures that the Ward KPI’s are achieved and are aligned with CCL quality standards. Contribute to achieving quality and improvement KPIs.


What will you need to succeed in this role?

• NVQ level 3 or higher; Care Certificate.
• Demonstrates broad experience in the acute care field.
• Track record of achievement of objectives in present and past jobs in the clinical field.
• Requires critical thinking skills and the ability to work autonomously.
• Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action and adapt to changes.
• BLS provider and qualification required upon hire, or within 3 months of hire.(Desirable)
• Wide range of experience working in acute care including cardiac and Cardio Thoracic, Renal and GI surgery. (Desirable)
• Competent in /have had exposure to the use of electronic clinical systems (EPIC or similar) (Desirable)
