Maxxima have recently partnered with one of the UK’s specialist provider of Mental Health, Neurological, Learning Disabilities, Children and Educational services. We are currently looking for an experienced Lead Speech & Language Therapist, who can provide overall support in our services. This post is based in Oldham, Manchester, which is easily accessible via public transport.
About the role:
As a Lead Speech & Language Therapist, you will provide high quality assessment, implement plans for care programmes in group or individual settings using approaches that are evidence based. You will also provide specialist clinical advice to other staff surrounding the management and care of service users with communication difficulties and/or hearing impairment.

About the role:
As a Lead Speech & Language Therapist, you will provide high quality assessment, implement plans for care programmes in group or individual settings using approaches that are evidence based. You will also provide specialist clinical advice to other staff surrounding the management and care of service users with communication difficulties and/or hearing impairment.
Your main responsibilities as a Lead Speech & Language Therapist:
- To provide a high standard of Speech and Language Therapy (SLT) assessment and intervention to people within St Mary’s Hospital and All Saints. Also other local settings as required (such as conducting dysphagia assessments in the absence of another Lead SLT). The person will have a particular specialism in working with people with mental health, Acquired Brain Injury, ASD and/ or LD
- To contribute to the continued development of a high-quality therapeutic service
- To manage a complex clinical caseload ensuring high standards of care that is flexible to the needs of the person using evidence based / person centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate intervention
- To provide specialist Dysphagia assessment and intervention to patients, utilising competencies and experience at a specialist practitioner level.
- Degree in Speech & Language Pathology
- Current HCPC registration
- RCSLT Membership
- Evidence of Post-graduate study
- Evidence of Continuing Professional Development
- Leadership and service management skills
- Excellent communication skills- verbal and written
- Ability to adopt a systematic approach
- Clinical reasoning skills
- Training and education skills
- Able to work independently and show initiative
- Expert knowledge in dysphagia and communication disorders
- Experience in delivering group or individual based interventions
