Using Skillstream as a direct engagement portal

Getting started with the Skillstream portal

​Before you start using Skillstream, you will be set up with a login and will receive an email directly
from the Skillstream portal with a link to finalise setting up your account.

Key information

Logging in for the first time

When you log in to Skillstream for the first time, you will have tasks to complete in the portal,
including accepting your terms and conditions and choosing your pension options. Once you have
completed all tasks, you are free to upload any hours worked to the system.

When do I submit timesheets and receive my pay?

Please ensure timesheets are uploaded for your manager to approve prior to 11am each Monday
morning. If approved on that Monday, you will receive your pay on Friday of the same week.

Timesheet statuses explained

With Skillstream, you’re able to view the status of your timesheets in the portal. There are four
different statuses, as follows:

Unsubmitted - Timesheet not completed/submitted
Approved - Timesheet has been authorised
Invoiced - Timesheet has been paid
Disputed - Timesheet has been disputed by your trust/approving manager. Please contact us for
further support.

Accessing payslips

You can access your payslips by contacting the Skillstream team at payroll@skillstream@nhs.uk.

Ensuring you’re on the right tax code

To ensure you are on the correct tax code, please complete the HMRC starter form and return it to us along with the P45 from your previous role via email at admin.maxxima@maxximagroup.com. This is the best way to ensure you are on the correct tax code and therefore, paying the correct amount of tax.

NHS pension scheme

For all PAYE direct engagement assignments via Skillstream, all eligible temporary workers are contractually entitled to membership of the NHS pension scheme and therefore will be enrolled into the scheme automatically.
